Este post é dedicado àqueles momentos em que nos apetece comer alguma coisa, sem termos necessariamente fome.
Isto acontece-me várias vezes ao dia e, para não cair no erro de ingerir calorias desnecessárias, estou sempre à procura de alternativas inteligentes.
A primeira é a gelatina Royal sem açucar.

This post is dedicated to those moments when you’re craving something but are not necessarily hungry.
This happens to me a lot throughout the day and I’m always looking for smart options so I don’t intake those unnecessary calories.
My first pick is this sugarfree jellow by Royal (you can get it from any brand, as long as it’s ”clean”).

Com 10 calorias, 0g de lípidos, 0,9g de carbos e 1,7g de proteína, a gelatina (sem açucar!!) é a minha opção para quando me apetece alguma coisa fresca e doce. (Devo dizer que me entupi de gelatina durante a última season de masterchef USA, o que também não me parece muito bem). A gelatina Royal encontra-se em qualquer supermercado.

Outra alternativa são estes crisps de maçã.

With 10 calories, 0g lipids, 0.9g carbs and 1,7g protein, sugarfree jellow is my choice when I crave something cold and sweet. (I must say I ate the crap out of it during Masterchef USA’s last season, which is not very smart). 

Apple crisps are my other favourite go to snack.

Ligeiramente doces, estaladiços e deliciosos! A minha marca preferida é a Fruut, por ser nacional e ter todas as vantagens que daí advém. Costumo comprar no SuperCor e cada embalagem, que contém cerca de três maçãs, custa menos de 2€.
A saúde não tem preço!

Slightly sweet, crunchy and delicious! I usually buy mine at the supermarket for under 2€, since it is a national brand… But, once again, try to get the cleanest version of everything you eat :)

Pode parecer cliché, mas para mim o ano começa efectivamente em Setembro. Não sei se é por ainda estar a estudar, mas aquela sensação que a maior parte das pessoas têm na passagem de ano, eu tenho no início das aulas.
É o começo de um novo ano cheio de coisas novas, amigos novos, novas experiências e… o melhor de tudo: material escolar novo! E o facto de andar na universidade não muda em nada o meu entusiasmo doentio ao entrar numa papelaria ou numa seção de material escolar. 
Este post é um bocado tardio para quem está no ensino básico/secundário, visto que as aulas começam esta semana, mas para quem anda na faculdade ainda vou bem a tempo :) 
It may seem cliché, but for me the year actually begins in September. Don’t know if it’s because I’m still in college, but the feeling that most people have in the new year, I have in the beginning of the school year.
It is the beginning of a year full of new things, new friends, new experiences and … best of all: new school supplies! And the fact that I go to the university doesn’t change my crazy enthusiasm when I walk in a stationary or a hall of school supplies.
This post is coming out a bit late for those still in primary/high school, since classes start this week, but for those in college I’m still on time :)

O iPad, ou qualquer outro tablet, é uma espécie de melhor-amigo-companheiro-de-estudo. Obviamente não é um material necessário para um estudante, mas dá imenso jeito. Nele eu tenho vários livros e PDFs, trabalhos e aplicações que tornam o meu estudo muito mais organizado. (post sobre isso mais tarde!)
O que acham desta série ”Back to school”? Tenho alguns tópicos para falar e se tiverem alguma sugestão é só deixar nos comentários :)

The iPad or any other tablet, is kind of a best-friend-study-buddy. Obviously it’s not a needed supply for a student, but it sure is a great help. On my iPad I have several books and PDFs, paper works and apps that make my study much more organized. (post on that later!)

Para encerrar as fotos da viagem, trago-vos um bocadinho daquele que é um dos meus restaurantes preferidos em Johannesburg. Não consigo estar na cidade sem ir jantar, pelo menos uma vez, ao Mezepoli!

These are the last pictures of my trip and they are from one of my favourite restaurants in Johannesburg. I can’t go to the city without having at least one meal at Mezepoli!

O espaço costuma estar cheio de verdadeiros amantes de vinho e da comida mediterrânea. A comida é de chorar por mais!
The place is usually packed with mediterranean food and wine lovers, and the food is to die for!
O nosso pedido foi: queijo haloumi grelhado, húmus, falafel, croquetes de queijo, alcachofras, salada grega, pão de pita, lulas grelhadas, almôndegas e cogumelos exóticos.
Our order was: grilled haloumi, houmous dip, falafel, croquettes, artichokes, greek salad, pita bread, calamari, meatballs and exotic mushrooms. 
Depois de comer o suficiente para alimentar o país por uns bons meses, ficámo-nos pelo chá…
After eating enough food to feed the entire country for several months, we only asked for some tea…

Há sítios que nos marcam a memória para sempre. Eu posso dizer que já viajei bastante e nunca, em nenhum dos países onde estive, encontrei um local tão marcante como este.
O Oliver’s encontra-se em White River, South Africa, num local onde o campo se funde com a savana e o ar puro com a vida selvagem.
There are places that leave a mark forever. I can say that I have traveled a lot and never, in none of the countries I’ve been, I encountered a place so remarkable as this.
Oliver’s is located in White River, South Africa, a place where the country merges with the savannah and fresh air with the wildlife.

A poucos quilómetros do Kruger Park, a maior área de conservação da fauna da África do Sul, é possível relaxar no conforto do Lodge depois de um emocionante safari pelo parque.
A few kilometers from Kruger Park, the largest wildlife conservation in South Africa, you can relax in the comfort of the Lodge after an exciting safari through the park.
A minha paragem no Oliver’s foi apenas para uma refeição, mas são inúmeras as vezes que já lá passei fins-de-semana e pequenas férias da escola.
My stop in Oliver’s was just for a meal this time, but I’ve already spent countless weekends and small school holidays in this place.

As ervas e algumas verduras usadas na confecção dos pratos são colhidas do jardim que pode ser visitado pelos visitantes. Direto da horta para o prato, podia ser melhor?!
Herbs and some vegetables used in some of the dishes are harvested from the garden that can be visited by visitors. Straight from the garden to the plate, could it get any better?!
Depois de matar as saudades do local, era altura de matar o bichinho da fome.
After walking through the garden it was time to sit down and enjoy a delightful meal.
Pão caseiro e molho de berinjelas assadas.
Homemade bread and roasted eggplant dip.
Salada feita com verduras da horta, queijo gorgonzola, pêras bêbedas, abacate, nozes tostadas e wafers de massa phyllo.
Garden Greens with creamy Gorgonzola, red wine pears, avocado, toasted pecan nuts and phyllo wafers.
Fillet de vaca com chamussas de rabo de touro, servido sobre uma cama de puré de batata e cenoura, acompanhado de legumes grelhados.
Succulent beef fillet served with oxtail rissoles, light potato mash set on a carrot puree.
Eu escolhi o risotto de camarão e vinho branco… hummm, só de ver a foto fico a babar!
Depois do almoço fomos dar uma volta em Casterbridge, um centro comercial ao ar livre onde basicamente só se vendem peças artesanais. Infelizmente era domingo e as lojas estavam fechadas #fail

I went for the creamy white wine and shrimp risotto topped with grilled prawns… hmmm, just look at it!
After lunch we went for a walk around Casterbridge, a lifestyle centre where you can buy all sorts of handicrafts . Unfortunately it was sunday and the stores were closed #fail
Recomendo muito que visitem este centro, caso passem por White River. É super acolhedor e há sempre várias actividades a decorrer: provas de vinho, passeio de póneis e uma área de ”recreio” para os mais pequeninos, etc. Além de que a restauração tem uma oferta excelente!
I highly recommend visiting this center, if you happen to pass by White River. It’s super cozy and there are always several ongoing activities: wine tasting, ponies riding and a” recreational area” for the little ones, etc.. Besides the restaurants there are great! 
Esta lojinha é um must! É o paraíso do chocolate e eles vendem todo o tipo de bonbons homemade e têm até uma mega fonte de chocolate onde podemos encher os copinhos que eles vendem com chocolate derretido. YUM!
This shop is a must! It is the paradise of chocolate and they sell all kinds of homemade chocolates and even have a mega chocolate fountain where we can fill up the cups they sell with melted chocolate. YUM!
